Flat Sheets – Sustainable Alternative to Plywood

Flat Sheets – Sustainable Alternative to Plywood

These boards are made from recycled Post Consumer Tetra Pak Cartons and are an excellent alternative to plywood. Sheets are available in 8ft x 4ft size with a thickness of 6mm/12mm/18mm. They are water-resistant, termite proof and have good density properties.

School Table:

We, at Saahas Zero Waste, are proud to collaborate with RIVER – Tide Learning to provide school tables made from Reprocessed Tetra Pak Sheets for government-funded schools in Andhra Pradesh and Goa. Through this initiative, we provide high-class infrastructure to the classrooms and help introduce the kids to the concepts of eco-friendliness and circular economy from a young age.

PolyAl flat board is used as a tabletop and base is made of MS metal which makes it stronger and long-lasting. Along with the development of the infrastructure, it raises awareness amongst the kids and the locals on effective management of waste and how resources can be recovered fro it when it is judiciously managed.

Story & Impact:

About 2000 cartons of 200 ml Tetra Pak go into the making of two tables. And for every tonne of carton recycled, we save 900 kg of greenhouse gas emission and three cubic/metres of landfill. One recycled Tetra Pak sheet measuring 8 feet x 4 feet is used to make two tables, which saves half a big tree from being cut.
